The “picture” book builds on origins of the State of Minnesota and has grown to 420 pages with 1,083 images (85% vintage & commissioned illustrations) documented with 263 endnotes. It is compiled with stories of immigrants, its residents and volunteers, and is informed by the geology of the glacial age and the scenic beauty of the Great Mississippi: from its Native Dakota population through French and Ojibwe fur traders, to neighborhood populations that spoke a dozen dialects of their home countries. It all originated at the Upper Landing of Saint Paul.
