The Fort Road Federation coordinates two community gardens:
The Fort Road Community Garden is located at the northeast corner of Jefferson Avenue and Victoria Street. It's just south of I-35E. These garden plots are 12 feet x 12 feet.
The West 7th Community Garden is located at the West 7th Community Center (265 Oneida). These garden plots as 6 feet x 6 feet.
Both gardens have water on-site and are located near the Summit Hill Yard Waste Site.
Registration dates for 2026:
Returning gardeners renewing the SAME plot - February 27 through March 8.
Returning gardeners who will rent a DIFFERENT plot - March 9 - March 15
New gardeners from West 7th / Fort Road Federation neighborhood - March 16 - March 31
New gardeners - April 1 until plots taken
Garden plots are $40 at the Fort Road Garden and $25 at the West 7th Garden This cost is per season and includes commitments to help with communal spaces.
The Fort Road Community Garden started as a way to both give gardening opportunities to neighbors and turn a vacant property next to the freeway into a community asset.

We're excited to welcome special guest speaker Mayor Her to our meeting this year. We’ll share highlights from the past year and look ahead at what’s next as we continue building community together. Our annual election will also take place at the meeting!
